Singaporean-born composer Jean Y. Foo (b. 1982) was most recently applauded by Hua-In, the leading online Chinese music news source, as “a rising star in the twenty-first century international music scene.” Her music has been presented at hallmark venues and events across the globe, including the Cairo Opera House, the Forbidden City Concert Hall (Beijing), the Beijing Golden Music Hall, the Goethe-Institut (New York and Boston), the Esplanade Recital Hall (Singapore), the American Composer's Forum, the 2010 7th Annual Young Composers Festival (Boston), the 2006 World New Music Festival, the Beijing Modern Music Festival, and the CNAP Festival. Dedicated towards the development of artistic and educational projects, Jean is currently Composer-in-Residence at the Arts Sphere Chinese Music Ensemble and Director of Development at the Boston New Music Initiative. Past appointments include Curator of the Magic Hospital Music Program and Music Editor at Gramophone Magazine (China).
